They took me back to labor and delivery and Nathan and I laughed as they put us in the exact same room that Avery was born in....kinda funny! Familiar at least. My doctor was not on call so Dr. Thurston was the one who delivered Taylor. He was great....added a little humor to the event. I wanted the epidural immediately but they wanted me to have my blood checked and give me fluids for 20 minutes before they could give me the pain meds. Man was that no fun. They gave me the fluids and didn't wait on the bood! Thank goodness. They also had to give me antibiotics for delivery and as the doctor was administering the epidural I broke out and started itching frantically. Yes - an allergic reaction to the antibiotics....so we stopped that and had to find a new one. Luckily once the meds stopped I stopped itching immediately.
Ronnie went to the house to watch Avery so Dad could come to the hospital. Jeannie and Ronnie got to the hospital while Patricia watched Avery. Mom got to Dallas and to the hospital about an hour before Taylor was born. It all went pretty quickly. Taylor was ready to be here! We had lots of visitors...the triplets were able to come down from Oklahoma for the night to see their new brother...Grandma and Granpaul Luther came. Grammy came to see us too! Anna and Olivia didn't make it for Taylor's birth but they were there in no time. Avery loved having Olivia around too! Those two will be trouble together one day...
We are very lucky to have a sweet little boy that is healthy and just perfect! We are probably in for a wild ride (or a least a different ride) with a little boy!
I was very worried about how Avery was going to react. She immediately loved him! Of course she has been talking about Taylor for months now. She didn't really like seeing me sit on the bed with all the machines behind me...I am sure that looks a little scary. She kept saying "Mommy's ok...Mommy's fine" and we assured her I was fine. She loved kissing Taylor at the hospital and holding him. It was so sweet. Hopefully, they will be very close!
