A girl to the core!
So Nathan and I turned our heads for about 30 seconds and look what happened! Apparently Avery loves People magazine as much as her mom (apparently it is an inherited trait)!

Avery's New Toy
So Avery just discovered a toy her Daddy bought her. You spin the wheel and it lands on an animal and sings about that animal...I took her hand and spun the wheel once. I didn't really expect her to catch on so quickly! Just watch the video!

3 Months Old!
So Avery is officially 3 months old as of yesterday (Sept. 15)! It is very hard to believe! She is getting so big! She is starting to roll from her back to her stomach...which is apparently harder than rolling from her stomach to back......she just hates being on her stomach. Nothing happens on her stomach except major crying! Mommy can't handle it, so I am always the sucker that picks her up early from her tummy time! She can really hold her head up well and she has even started to sit in her Bumpo chair (I will post that pic soon)! It is histerical. She has started grabbing things in front of her and putting them in her mouth and she has definitely realized there is a puppy dog in the house. She is entranced with Lily. Everything Lily does captures her attention for the longest time. She never has really paid attention to Lily before. Lily has been wonderful to Avery. Everytime Avery cries Lily runs into the room or runs up next to her to make sure she is okay. It is really sweet. I always though a baby would totally wig my skiddish dog out and I would never see her again (i.e. she would be hiding under the table or bed for the rest of her life). But she has done great!
Avery has a mirror on the wall right outside of her bedroom and everytime we walk out we look in the mirror and I think she recognizes me in the mirror, and so now I think she is starting to realize it is her in the mirror! She gets really shy and buries her head in my chest...my child shy? that is an oxymoron....she must take after her Aunt Anna on that one, because Nathan and I are not shy. I think Anna hid behind my mom for the first 10 years of her life! She was a ham at home and shy in public...it will be interesting to see if Avery is like that.
She still looks like a little boy if she is not wearing pink because her hair sticks straight up in spikes! Mom and I were at the mall and Mom was holding Avery where it was hard to tell she had a dress on and this little boy said to his mom "Mom, mom look at that little boy...he has tiny spikey hair...tiny spikey hair mom!". It was really cute! Mom and I just smiled..the little boy was probably 4 years old!
Avery has now discovered her high chair! This was the first time she got in the high chair and she LOVES it! We put a bunch of her rattles and toys on the tray and she played with them and hit the table! She loves being in the high chair when I am in the kitchen cooking...she can see eerything and she just smiles! She loves to pull all the toys off in her lap!

11 Weeks
Let's see...Avery is now 11 weeks old! I can't believe it...she is almost 3 months old....where does the time go? I am sure I will be saying this for the rest of my life...She is definitely lots of fun. She loves to read books and loves and I mean loves her mobile that sounds like the rainforest! She had her two month checkup (we were a little late...she had it when she was 2.5 months old)....she weighs 12 pounds 7 ounces and is in the 93 percentile for weight. So much for losing a lot of weight when she was born! So needless to say the Dr. told me to cut the amount she is eating by 4 ounces a day or so. Avery has been pretty good about it. She gets a little hungrier at times but we can generally keep her mind off of food by playing until it is time for a bottle! But man if you wait too long to give her that bottle then all bets are off and she will scream her head off! She really isn't a crier and can be calmed down pretty quickly unless you are late on that bottle...she will let you know!! She has really started smiling. She still hates tummy time, but tummy time is great when she is gassy and it really works it out of her in her fits of anger. She loves her walks and is so alert and taking everything in while we stroll with Lily. Sometimes when we have to wait for Lily to go to the bathroom and stop strolling she will whine until we get going it again...it is pretty funny. I love you Avery!

This one is funny because it is the first time she has put on shoes. She didn't really know what to think!!! Pretty histerical

Mobile Playtime
This is a a video of Avery playing with her mobile. The book I am reading about child development suggests tying a ribbon around her wrist and then also to the mobile so she can learn cause and effect! She LOVES it....she played this game for at least 25 minutes. Great concentration for her too!
p.s. Happy Anniversary Aunt Anna and Uncle Nick! Two whole years...

Growing up!
These pictures are Avery around 7 weeks old! Today she is 8 weeks old! She really is becoming more of a little person than an infant that sleeps all the day! She loves to "talk" to us, and she loves to be held in someone's arms. If you put her down she fusses and screams....then if you pick her up she is instantly fine! Nathan and I went to church and my mom watched her while we went. When I got home she wouldnt take her eyes off of me! It is so cute that she is starting to know who I am! She absolutely LOVES her baths. She still sits in the sling part of the baby bathtub and she dangles her feet off the side and splashes her hand in the water! She has the best time in her bathtub. I need to get her some bath toys that make noise!! The girls also made her a "senses" box. They gathered all kinds of things around the house that make noise, have different textures and that have different smells and put it all in a shoe box! She loves the I-Dog that dances and barks and she loves the sound of crinkled tissue paper! The girls also have wax for their braces that smell like cinnamon and bubble gum and she sniffs those too! it is funny to watch her sniff the wax! I just can't beleive how big she is getting and growing up! It seems like she just got here!

Black & White patterns
I just had to post some of these new pictures of Avery - they are some of my favorite! In these pics she is staring at her mobile above her bed. Babies see black and white patterns very well and Mom and I made black and white patterns and taped them to the bottom of her mobile and she follows Tigger and Eeore around in circles. It is too funny! I haven't seen her so entranced in something. She loves the patterns!

Pics from Chicago Trip
Avery's First Plane Trip
We just took Avery on her first plane trip to Chicago to get out of the hot steamy weather in Dallas! We didn't know how she would do on the plane, but of course...she just slept! She didn't cry once and we were very relieved! She just slept in Daddy's lap the whole way!! Everyone on the plane thought she was pretty cute and such a good traveler. Good job Ave!

2nd Week!
Avery is such a joy! We just love having her around and we feel like we are "getting to know" he more now that she is much more alert and awake! She is still a huge sleeper! She is also a BIG eater! She sounds like a little piggie snorting when she gets hungry it is pretty cute! She has started opening her eyes more. The Dr. says you have to give babies tummy time so they learn to hold their neck up and strengthen their neck muscles. Let's just say Avery HATES tummy time. We have definitely learned how loud her vocals can get! She will scream herself to sleep on her tummy!
